MASTER KUSH

Winner of a Cannabis Cup on two occasions (1992
and 1993,) this is a strain that has been around
for a while. As its name suggest, it is a plant
derived from the sturdy Indica plants grown in the
Hindu Kush province of India. One of the most
famous hash producing areas, this plant is a classic
Indica, producing large, sticky buds redolent with
the aromas of the exotic east. Producing a
strong Afghani smell (like all of the Indicas), a nice
spicey taste and a good hit, this strain is a tetraploid
plant (having two sets of chromosomes) which
makes it a good parent for new strains.
Flowering period: 8 to 9 weeks.

NORTHERN LIGHTS/HAZE

A personal favourite for smoking if not growing, the
Northern Lights/Haze cross is one of the truly great
plants. A few years ago when another seed won a
Cannabis Cup with one of the first strains, it was
generally agreed that it was the strongest thing we
had ever smoked. If anything is going to make you
fall apart, it is this. A mixture of genuine Jamaican
'lambsbreath' and good old Dutch Northern Lights,
makes this a powerful plant. Not an easy plant to
grow, NL/Haze has long flowering period which makes
for a large and laden plant. Give it lots of room and
lots of care and it will have you laughing all the way
to the bank.
Flowering period: 12 to 14 weeks.

WHITE WIDOW

This is a lady that has taken Amsterdam by storm
since it won a Cannabis Cup in 1995. But it is
hardly surprising for this is one of the strongest
strains yet produced. A short plant with large but
few leaves, White Widow is named for the
dense coating of snowy crystals that cover the
buds. A good commercial plant, the success of
this strain can be measured in its many offspring.
Producing good size, solid buds, White Widow has a
good, well-rounded taste and provokes a suitably
multi-faceted high.
Flowering period: eight weeks.

NORTHERN LIGHTS

A classic Amsterdam strain. After Skunk No 1,
Northern Lights was the next plant to demonstrate
that Amsterdam had come up with something special.
If the first Skunks had really impressed us, here was
a plant that simply blew us away. The sweet, sweet
taste and the big, colourful high made Northern
Lights a popular choice. And so it still remains with
almost every menu in Amsterdam featuring Northern
Lights and its many crosses. Strong in every sense
of the word, this is a plant that is stocky and dense
but low on leaves. A excellent cropper.
Flowering period: 8 to 9 weeks.
